A new survey has been launched in an effort to find the best possible regulatory system for the recruitment industry.
The REC - which represents many agencies that supply interim managers - hopes to inform the debate on regulation by collating recent experiences of Government from its members.
The survey follows ongoing discussions at REC events and sector group meetings over the last year.
Commenting on the aims of the survey, Anne Fairweather, Head of Public Policy at the REC said a recent Serious about Standards campaign promoted the contribution of law-abiding agencies and highlighted the industry's commitment to addressing bad practice.
She went on to say the run-up to the next general election provides an important opportunity for the industry to take the initiative and tell all major political parties how it wants the industry to be regulated in the future.
Member feedback is central to the campaign for a regulatory system that balances the need for effective enforcement against rogue providers, whilst limiting unnecessary burden on law-abiding agencies, she added.
Currently, a number of public bodies inspect recruitment agencies. These include the Employment Agency Standards Inspectorate, the Gangmasters Licensing Authority, the Health and Safety Executive, HM Revenue and Customs and the UK Border Agency, as well as sector specific bodies.
