REC in roundtable discussion with Theresa May

03 September 2009

An organisation representing agencies that find work for interim managers has been invited to take part in a roundtable discussion with Shadow Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, Theresa May.

The event, organised by the leading think-tank Policy Exchange, will focus on the welfare reform agenda and on practical measures for addressing the current employment crisis.

Speaking ahead of the Policy Exchange event, the Director of External Relations at the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), Tom Hadley said the recruitment industry is increasingly recognised as a key voice on both the immediate and longer-term strategies for boosting the UK's jobs market.

He went on to explain recruitment professionals can play a pivotal role within the context of publicly-funded employment initiatives and the REC will continue to explore future business opportunities for the industry.

The REC is continuing to build its links with members of the Shadow Cabinet and this latest event will provide a further opportunity for highlighting the contribution that the £27 billion private recruitment industry makes to the UK economy and labour market.

The REC took part in a number of fringe sessions at the Conservative Party's Spring Forum last April and will be attending the Conservative Party Annual Conference in Manchester next October as well as the Labour Party Conference in Brighton and the Liberal Democrats Conference in Bournemouth.
