Events celebrate role of interims and temps

01 July 2009

Hundreds of recruitment agencies across the UK have been celebrating the contribution made by their temporary, contract and interim staff as part of National Temporary Workers Week.

Organised by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) the week long series of events included a Mad Hatter's Tea Party, staged Isle of Wight agency WP Recruitment.

So impressed was the REC with the tea party that it has won the annual National Temporary Workers Week photographic competition for the agency coming up with the most original event.

The agency also held a Temp of the Month competition and staged an open day for people wanting to find out more about temporary work. It also raised money for its charity, the Earl Mountbatten Hospice on the Isle of Wight.

WP's Accounts Manager, Alex Marlow said the recession has hit the Isle of Wight hard so National Temporary Workers Week cheered everyone up and gave them a well-needed boost.

Anita Holbrow, the REC's Director of Marketing, added that the tea party typified the wonderful variety of events members have organised to celebrate the roles of their interims and other temporary staff and to say a well-earned thank you for the outstanding work they do.
