According to a recent survey by Ipsos MORI, the public sector has experienced a considerable increase in the use of interim managers over the last year, with a 20% rise in assignments.
One third of all interim assignments are now taking place within the public sector and it's estimated there are more than 3,000 interim assignments currently underway.
What's driving up this use of interim managers in the public sector? A number of factors are responsible, but the main ones will be familiar to any organisation - time and money.
As a far-reaching change agenda puts pressure on public sector organisations, the expertise of interim managers has become more attractive, particularly due to the speed with which they can be hired and start contributing to a change programme.
