The successful candidate will have a key role in the implementation of the national General Ophthalmic Services contract regulations from 2008.
Main duties
Key aspects of the role:
To have a key role in commissioning Optometry Services, so that services are appropriately designed to meet local health needs.
To have a key role in the development of the PCT Eye Care Services Strategy.
To work with stakeholders in primary and secondary care to implement out of hospital models of care in eye care services where appropriate.
Key skills
Key skills required:
Experience working as a Primary Care Manager, preferably specialising in Optometry Services.
Knowledge of health strategy and health policy development and understanding of Ophthalmic Regulations.
Proven success in leading project management of health care related schemes for new or significantly changed services.
Experience of commissioning new and ongoing services, as an accountable manager in healthcare or voluntary sector at senior management level.
