ASSIGNMENT SUMMARY


Duration: 9 months


Start date: April 2010


Reporting to: Chief Executive


Description of role:


The purpose of this role will be to be the “shadow managing director” of this organisation during the phase of its creation up until 1st January 2011.

This start up organisation is about to managing the back office functions of a shared company.

SPECIFIC MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

1. Establish a very clear understanding of the requirements of the wider ambitions for this new organisation

2. Create a shape for the organisation, working with the re-engineering teams, to establish day one, significantly improved processes

3. Determine in liaison with the programme board an appropriate structure, financial model and performance arrangement for the organisation which achieves continuing future savings

4. Negotiate (if necessary) on issues where there is a trade-off between cost/quality or timescale ambitions to ensure that the business plan for the new organisation is achievable and sustainable.

5. Inculcate through communication, selection, and training a fit-for-future culture and ethos within the organisation


 


INTERIM MANAGEMENT SPECIFICATION

• Creating a startup organisation, involving the design and delivery of a whole organisation

• Running corporate services, ideally including the services covered by the merged service company;
o IT
o HR
o Finance
o Customer Services
o Revenues and benefits

• Ideally you will have experience of ‘ Local government or wider public sector stakeholder management or you will have experience relating to setting up a private company.

• Leading and motivating teams including a mix of established individuals and new entrants

• Specifying, negotiating and managing or delivering against performance based contractual arrangements

• Achieving deliverables as part of a complex and interdependent programme

You must have experience of leading a start up organisation.
